Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park
2800 S. Post Oak Blvd.
Houston, TX 77056
The saving grace of every financially-challenged Romeo, the Waterwall is a Houston landmark that really does inspire feelings of awe, inner peace and for those who are so inclined, romance. Located amid lovely live oaks in an 18-acre landscaped park south of Williams Tower, the Waterwall has the power and beauty of a man made waterfall, with 11,000 gallons of water per minute falling almost seven stories down the semi-circular structure from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. Parking can be difficult, but visitors can use the Williams Tower garage for free every night after 6 p.m. and on weekends. If you’re looking for a mind-blowing picnic spot, this is it. The park was recently renamed in honor of developer Gerald D. Hines.
1400 Memorial Dr
Houston, TX 77007
Great Skyline View of Houston
Houston Police Officer’s Memorial is shaped like a Greek cross that consists of five stepped pyramids (ziggurat design).
The central pyramid rises 12 ½ feet above ground level, and the four outer pyramids are inverted to sink 12 feet into the ground. Every pyramid base is 40 feet square.
There is a reflecting pool surrounded by four inscribed slabs of polished Texas pink granite located at the sculptures apex (of the central pyramid). The inscriptions bear the names of over eighty officers that died in the line of duty. A smaller version of the reflection pool is near the parking lot, for those visitors who are unable to climb to the apex
